Women April 6, 2025

ZPM Women’s and Family Life Department led a free Iftar at Samporna Mosque, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay with 50 households.

ZPM Women’s and Family Life Directress Sharon Dulang, with several ZPM workers arrived in a van filled with packed meals and a box of apples. Standing before the community, Directress Dulang expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to share the Iftar meal just before their ‘buka’. ‘Buka,’ or the breaking of fast during Ramadan, typically takes place at 6 PM. This event occurred in the final days before Eid al-Fitr.

Eid al-Fitr is an Islamic festival marking the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting when Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk. It is the first time they can eat during daylight hours after a month of fasting. The Arabic translation of “Eid al-Fitr” aptly describes the occasion, meaning “festival of breaking the fast.” “We, the Seventh-day Adventists, consider you our brothers and sisters, tracing our roots to Abraham, as written in the Al-Kitab, the Holy Bible,” Mrs. Dulang said.

The entire village warmly welcomed them with smiles and words of appreciation. One community member responded, “You are all welcome here anytime, Ma’am. Magsukol tuud (Thank you very much).”

Before leaving, Mrs. Sharon’s group offered a prayer for the community.
