Bud Mana Volunteers of the Zamboanga Peninsula Mission, Adventist-Muslim Relations, brought hope behind bars as they donated a water heater and hosted a Free Iftar at the Sulu Provincial Jail through a meaningful Jail Ministry outreach.
The initiative reached hundreds of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and individuals under rehabilitation, offering not only practical support but also encouragement.
A key highlight was the donation of a water heater—part of Bud Mana’s continuing commitment since the visit in October 2025—aimed at improving daily living conditions inside the facility.
Jail Warden Ma’am Cindy H. Irilis, RN, MPA, expressed gratitude, noting that partnerships like these play a vital role in strengthening rehabilitation and restoring dignity among inmates.
In observance of Ramadan, volunteers prepared “Vegetarian Bulalo,” serving 423 PDLs and 56 individuals under rehabilitation. As they broke their fast together, the atmosphere was filled with unity, reflection, and gratitude. Volunteers also rendered songs of comfort inside the cells, moving some inmates to tears.

More than just an outreach, the event showed that compassion reaches beyond walls and hope belongs to everyone—even those behind bars.
