On December 1, 2024, the Ipil District Adventist Elementary School (IDAES) hosted a heartwarming event called Kids for Mission: Living Out Faith in Action in Barangay Palid, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. This initiative, organized by the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference Education Department and adopted by schools under this Union, brought together all IDAES learners to share generously unused clothes, toys, shoes, and other useful items with 140 children and adults in the community. The highlight of the day was the leadership displayed by Grade 6 learners, who spearheaded the gift-giving and feeding program. Their efforts not only provided essential items but also fostered a spirit of joy and camaraderie among participants, making the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The Kids for Mission program aims to instill values of service and compassion in young hearts by encouraging them to live for others as Jesus did. The primary objectives of this outreach initiative are twofold: to cultivate a love for community service and to inspire children to actively engage in helping those in need. By participating in such events, learners not only contribute materially but also grow in empathy and social responsibility. This hands-on involvement reinforces the importance of community care and highlights the impact that even small acts of kindness can have on individuals facing hardships.

The impact of Kids for Mission on the lives of participating children is profound. Through their experiences in serving others, these young learners develop a deeper understanding of compassion and the joy that comes from giving. Engaging with community members fosters a sense of connection and purpose, nurturing future leaders who recognize their ability to effect positive change. As they witness the smiles of those they help, children learn that service is not merely an act but a way of life that enriches both giver and receiver alike. By embracing this ethos, they are empowered to become catalysts for meaningful change within their communities and beyond.
