Banigan, Liloy, Zamboanga Peninsula – The Ministerial Department of Zamboanga Peninsula Mission recently organized a transformative spiritual retreat titled “Renewal From Within.” Under the visionary leadership of Pastor Elmer Dulang, this retreat aimed to address the pressing issue of burnout faced by pastors and office workers in today’s demanding environment.
The retreat participants gathered at a serene location in Banigan, Liloy, seeking solace and renewal. The central theme revolved around overcoming burnout and fostering spiritual resilience. In an era where the demands of ministry and administrative tasks can take a toll on mental and emotional well-being, this retreat provided a much-needed space for reflection, rejuvenation, and empowerment.
Pastor Heshbon Buscato, the esteemed Communications Director of the Southern Asia Pacific Division (SSD), graced the event with his presence. His insightful keynote address resonated with the attendees, emphasizing the importance of self-care, mindfulness, and spiritual nourishment. Pastor Buscato reminded every pastor and office worker to be vigilant about the challenges inherent in their roles.
“Our mission field is vast, and the responsibilities are weighty,” Pastor Buscato stated. “As shepherds of our congregations and stewards of administrative tasks, we must prioritize our own well-being. Only when we are spiritually resilient can we effectively serve others.”
Throughout the retreat, participants engaged in workshops, sessions, and group discussions. Topics ranged from stress management techniques to strategies for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The serene surroundings of Banigan provided the perfect backdrop for introspection and connection with the divine.
“We must remember that our spiritual reservoirs need replenishing,” said Pastor Dulang. “By nurturing our inner selves, we become better equipped to navigate the challenges of ministry and office work.”
The participants expressed their gratitude to the administrators who made the retreat possible. Pastor Vilmar Mandalupa, ZPM Executive Secretary, and Pastor Ronald Ramos, Treasurer, two administrators who were present received heartfelt thanks for their unwavering support and approval of the event.
As the retreat concluded, participants left with renewed spirits and a commitment to prioritize their well-being. The Ministerial Department plans to continue organizing such retreats, fostering a culture of self-care and resilience among pastors and office workers across the Zamboanga Peninsula.
