Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte — March 19, 2026
The Zamboanga Peninsula Mission (ZPM) Adventist Youth Department has launched its Christ-centered House Repair Initiative, a five-year program aimed at transforming homes while shaping the character of youth. Over the next five years, the initiative seeks to repair 1,000 homes across 40 districts.

“Beyond fixing houses, the initiative focuses on addressing real needs, building meaningful relationships, training young people in relational evangelism, fostering a multi-generational culture of servant leadership, and creating substantial impact in various communities within ZPM territory and beyond,” said Pr. Chlue Tangente, ZPM Adventist Youth Director.

The program kicked off in Barangay Makiang, Siocon, a community long plagued by flooding. District church members, led by District Pastor Albenio Dalid and ZPM AYM President and Church Elder Henry Mark T. Casosot, joined forces with barangay officials, BPAT under Bobby Micabalo, district youth led by Angel Yam Mislani, and teaching staff from Siocon District Adventist Elementary School, Inc., headed by Windell Dumayo.

The first house repaired belonged to the Notarion family, who have four children. Roman Notarion shared, “We transferred here from our previous house near the river… We were just using sacks to patch our house as we couldn’t afford plywood. We are very grateful—not just to God, but to all of you who have hearts to help us.” Seeing the need, volunteers provided plywood walls and interior divisions, completing the repairs in just half a day.

The second project went beyond repair—a full rebuild for the Ybañez family. Eighty-six-year-old Suela Ybañez said, “My previous home was on the verge of collapse, with one pillar hanging over the riverbank.” That same day, the district team built a brand-new, safe, and stable home from scratch.

Barangay Captain Bobby Micabalo expressed his support: “Programs like this always have our backing, especially when people invest time and resources to help. We gladly assist, as this benefits our entire community.

Looking ahead, the Siocon District is committed to continuing its search for more houses in need of help, inspiring young people to engage in a life-changing, edifying experience.

By turning faith into action, this initiative shows that Christ-centered service extends beyond church walls, transforming both the lives of those helped and the hearts of those who serve—creating a lasting, eternal impact on communities.
