Remembering God’s Goodness, Proclaiming His Faithfulness-15 Years and Beyond

Celebration September 16, 2025

Zamboanga City – A milestone of faith and perseverance was celebrated at 290 Abelardo Climaco St., Tetuan, as the Chabacano Seventh-day Adventist Church joyfully commemorated its 15th Anniversary with the theme, “Celebrating God’s Goodness Until Jesus Comes!”

Guided by God’s providence, the Chabacano Seventh-day Adventist Church traces its beginnings to the dedication of its pioneering elders—Agustin E. Graciano Jr., Gil P. Eclipse Jr., Pedrito G. Blaza, and Gideon E. Villamor. As membership grew and church planting efforts expanded under the Santa Cruz Central Adventist Church, the brethren prayerfully decided to establish a new congregation. Thus, the Chabacano Seventh-day Adventist Church was officially organized on September 11, 2010.

In its earliest days, the church did not have a permanent place of worship. Services were held at the garage of the Southwestern Mindanao Attached Field (now known as the Zamboanga Peninsula Mission). Despite the discomforts and challenges of worshiping in a small, simple space, the brethren created unforgettable moments of faith and fellowship as they continued to gather. Sabbath after Sabbath, they never failed to worship and honor God, laying the foundation for what the church has become today.

The 15th Anniversary was not only a celebration of the church’s history but also a testimony of God’s sustaining grace. Brethren and friends of the Chabacano Church gathered together in gratitude and joy, reflecting on how far God has led them. The highlight of the celebration was the Divine Worship Program, where the invited speaker, Pr. Sonny M. Hernando, delivered an inspiring message. He reminded the congregation with these words:

“Let us move forward with hearts full of gratitude and hands ready for service. Let us live and labor until that glorious day when we will not only celebrate anniversaries here on earth—but we will celebrate eternity with Christ in heaven.”

These words left a lasting impression on everyone present, rekindling their commitment to serve God and continue His mission until the Second Coming of Jesus.

From a humble garage to a vibrant congregation, the Chabacano Seventh-day Adventist Church stands as a living witness to God’s unfailing love and goodness. As the members celebrated 15 fruitful years, they also looked forward with hope and determination—ready to continue the work of spreading the gospel, nurturing faith, and serving the community.

Indeed, this anniversary was more than just a remembrance of the past; it was a celebration of God’s faithfulness and a call to remain steadfast until Jesus comes. Truly, God never promised us a smooth journey, but He assured us of a safe arrival.

“Con Dios todo el gloria y alabanza con Su nombre”
