IDAES Hosts 'Run, Walk, Build' Fun Run to Support School's Building Project

On December 8, 2024, Ipil District Adventist Elementary School (IDAES) held the highly anticipated “Run, Walk, Build” Fun Run, raising funds for the completion of the school’s second-story building. The event brought the community together for a morning of fitness and compassion, with plans to finish the building by the end of the 2024-2025 academic year.

The event kicked off at the Zamboanga Peninsula Mission (ZPM) Compound, where 450 participants of all ages—from children to adults—gathered to take part. Adventist participants from various churches, non-Adventist friends, active sponsors, and local residents filled the venue, eagerly awaiting the start of the Fun Run. The host team, teachers, Hope Channel crew, pastors, and church leaders were present as the program began. After listening to important announcements, everyone participated in a warm-up session before setting off. The run took participants through Diversion Road—Pongko-pongko, before returning to ZPM for the culminating ceremony and awards presentation.

As the run began, local authorities supported the event with coordinated efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Municipal PNP were stationed throughout the course, providing a strong security presence to maintain order. Their support allowed everyone to enjoy the Fun Run with peace of mind. Additionally, the Municipal Health Department played a key role in monitoring participants’ health. Health assistants were positioned along the route, ready to assist anyone in need of medical attention, ensuring a safe experience for all.

IDAES, located in Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, is a private institution offering quality education to learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6, with a strong focus on character development alongside academic growth. The “Run, Walk, Build” Fun Run was officially announced on the Ipil SDA Elementary School Facebook page on November 1st, generating excitement with raffle prizes and the opportunity to support a worthy cause. The 300-peso registration fee covered a race bib, t-shirt, snacks, and a medal for the first 200 finishers. While online registration closed on November 24th, walk-in registration remained open until the very last minute, enabling more participants to contribute to the school’s cause.

The success of the event was felt beyond any monetary value, as the happiness shared among participants was evident. The joy of the runners and winners as they received their awards and raffle prizes was contagious, spreading throughout the event. The initiative team, staff, and everyone involved expressed their gratitude for the time, financial support, and genuine efforts that made the event successful. This united effort not only benefited the school but also brought the community closer together.

Beyond the joy of the people present, the event aligned with the values of the church, bringing delight to our Lord.
