“Kids for Mission” is an inspiring outreach program designed to engage children in service and giving, aiming to cultivate a spirit of responsibility, empathy, and compassion. By actively involving young people in hands-on projects that benefit both their local communities and those in need, this initiative helps them develop a deep sense of purpose and social responsibility.
From November 25 to 29, 2024, Adventist Elementary School-OLUTALMA District, Inc. hosted a remarkable event in Brgy. Poblacion, Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay, in collaboration with Pastor Ronillo Jagmoc. Over the course of seven nights, the program featured nightly Health and Gospel presentations, with 181 attendees from neighboring barangays joining the activities. Students, together with their parents, participated in the first-ever “Kids for Mission” event, making it an unforgettable experience.
Each night, students from various grades showcased their God-given talents as part of the program. The grand finale took place on Friday, November 29, 2024, with a heartfelt gift-giving ceremony. Our students presented gifts to the attendees, particularly the children, creating a meaningful moment captured not only in photos but also in the hearts of our learners. This experience reinforced the Bible’s message that “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). The joy on the faces of the recipients, the smiles of the parents, and the warm spirit of giving shared by all were truly inspiring.
The heart of “Kids for Mission” is a simple yet powerful mission: to reach out to those facing hardship—whether due to poverty, illness, or other challenges—and offer hope through acts of service. The gifts given, including essential items like clothing, food, and school supplies, were small but impactful gestures that made a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
What makes “Kids for Mission” truly unique is how it empowers children to actively participate in the planning, organizing, and execution of these outreach projects. This hands-on involvement fosters a strong sense of connection between the children and their communities, helping them develop valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. It reinforces the belief that even the smallest acts of kindness can create lasting, positive change.
Through “Kids for Mission,” children are not only encouraged to give but are also empowered to be the catalysts for meaningful change. As they contribute to their communities, they grow into compassionate, thoughtful leaders who understand that making a difference begins with one small act of kindness at a time.
Ultimately, “Kids for Mission” is more than just charity—it’s about building a generation of young people who understand the profound impact of compassion and service. By inspiring children to take action, we are nurturing a brighter, more connected future for all.
