Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay — A four-day medical mission was successfully conducted in selected barangays of Olutanga and Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay from May 26 to 29, 2025, through the initiative of Engineer Gonz Enriquez Sumayang and Betsy Mabida Sumayang.

The couple, who are currently based in Florida, USA, partnered with the local government units of Olutanga and Mabuhay, Adventist Medical Center Iligan, Zamboanga Peninsula Mission, and a local fraternity to deliver free medical and dental services to residents in underserved communities.

The medical mission was held in Villagonzalo and Kalaes–Kalinis Elementary School in Olutanga, and in Barangay Ligaya, Mabuhay. Hundreds of residents benefited from consultations, medications, dental care, free medicine, health lectures and minor procedures provided by volunteer healthcare workers.

According to Ma’am Betsy, last year’s mission was conducted in her hometown of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte. This year, she and her husband decided to bring the same services to Calais, Olutanga—Sir Gonz’s hometown—where he was raised in a coastal fishing village.

In the evening, an evangelistic crusade led by Pastor Patalinghug was held, drawing community members for spiritual encouragement and Bible-based messages.

The initiative aimed to address both physical and spiritual needs in the communities visited and was well-received by the residents.
