Zamboanga del Sur, Bayog – Pupils at Sibuguey Valley Adventist Elementary School are making a significant impact on their community and beyond through their involvement in the Kids for Mission initiative. Organized by the school’s dedicated faculty and staff, this event aims to empower young minds to embrace compassion.
From December 2 to 7, 2024, the school campus was transformed into a vibrant hub of faith-based activities. Pupils served as “little teachers” to younger children and participated in community services such as clean-up drives, feeding programs, and gift-giving. On the final day of the event, the pupils led the Sabbath School program, showcasing all the activities that took place during Kids for Mission week.
“The primary aim of Kids for Mission is to instill in young hearts a passion for serving God and others,” said SVAES school principal, Naomi A. Batac, MAED. “By involving children in mission work, we’re not just shaping their future, but also shaping the future of our world.”
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for pupils to engage in community outreach. They visited Purok 16, Poblacion, in Zamboanga del Sur, where they distributed gifts and food, and taught children action songs.
By involving children in missions, we can instill in them a heart for service and a desire to make a difference in the world. Through these experiences, they learn valuable lessons about compassion, gratitude, and the importance of giving back to their community.
