More than 1000 campers joined the Mission-wide Friendship Camp of Zamboanga Peninsula Mission

Youth July 5, 2024

After 7 long years, the Mission-wide Friendship Camp of the Zamboanga Peninsula Mission kicked off with a vibrant and heartwarming opening program, setting the tone for a week filled with fun, spirit-filled, and friendship-building activities where more than 800 campers enthusiastically responded to this most awaited event.

With the theme “Striving Onward, Uplifting Lives (SOUL)” Pastor Vilmar Mandalupa, the Executive Secretary of ZPM delivered inspiring message and a call to serve like Jeremiah and be part of uplifting lives to those people surrounding them. He also emphasizes that their presence on the said camp was not a coincidence but a great opportunity to grow and learn more about Jesus and meeting new friends.

The declaration of opening was led by Pastor Amorlito Hamoy, the ZPM Youth director alongside the giving of authority to the SwPUC Pathfinder Coordinator, Sir Elmer Omandam as the camp director of the event. After giving the ground rules, campers were divided into smaller groups (units), each led by a dedicated counselor. These groups took part in introductory sessions which they shared their names, hobbies, and expectations for the camp. This initial meeting provided an environment for greater bonds to develop over the week.

This friendship camp provided set of activities that enhances not only the camaraderie and leadership of the young people but their relationship with God along with their response to His call for them to serve as youth.
