Kauswagan, Diplahan Zamboanga Sibugay—Diplahan Seventh-day Adventist Church celebrated the inauguration of the first church-operated Adventist Academy of Zamboanga Peninsula Mission on May 21, 2024 at Kauswagan, Diplahan Zamboanga Sibugay.
The program commenced as distinguished guests, such as Pastor Jerry Patalinghug, Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SwPUC) President, Pastor Dante Obbus, SwPUC Executive Secretary, Sir Chemuael Almocera, SwPUC Treasurer, and Zamboanga Peninsula Mission Administrators, together with the church and school board members, had their processional march.
“It was once a dream and a long-time prayer of the Diplahan bretheren together with the church and school board to have an Adventist academy within our area. We never expected that this dream would be realized this year and that we would be able to operate this school year. It was all by God’s grace,” said Sir Cris S. Jore, the school board chairman of Diplahan Adventist Elementary School (DAES).
An oath-taking ceremony and a dedicatory prayer for school board officers and incorporators followed, led by Pastor Jerry Patalinghug.
The School Application Permit to Operate was handed over, and the documents were officially accepted by Sir Lloyd Rodriguez, the Department of Education (DepEd) Region IX Private School Coordinator.
“I’m privileged and honored to witness and be part of this significant milestone of the Adventist Academy of Diplahan, Inc. I expect that this school will deliver quality education to the community not only here in Diplahan but throughout Zamboanga Sibugay,” said Sir Lloyd Rodriguez.
The academy, located just a few miles away from DAES, consisted of six new classrooms and teacher’s offices for grades 7 and 8 for the SY 2024-2025. The ceremony concluded with a ribbon cutting, marking the beginning of a new milestone of Adventist education in Diplahan, a dedicatory prayer by Pastor Dante Obbus and an act of dedication by the ZPM Administrators. The school board of DAES solicits more prayers for students to enroll and be part of this Christ-centered institution. To God be all the glory!
